I really feel like this blog post is really just an odd public service announcment. I’m thinking PETA may want to know about this, but then again, its me … so probably not.

The other day while I was getting dog food for my dog I started to look at the other options my favorite dog food manufacturer had. I was shocked, I had NO IDEA that they were using puppy chicken’s in their food.

I’m not really sure what to make of this, so I Googled “Puppy Chickens” to see if maybe there was some sort of explanation. All I could really find relevant was an eHow article on “How to Introduce a Dog to Pet Chickens“.

Then there was another article on COCCIDIOSIS that talked about dogs / puppies getting this parasite FROM Chickens and I am even more confused then ever! Is this a sign of the coming Zombie Apocalypse?

So either I’ve stumbled upon a new breed of meat that Natural Choice has produced, or I’m just over analyzing things as normal. You decide.

Since I’ve moved to a more rural location, I’ve been getting a great dose of “country dwellers” in animal form. Sand hill cranes, deer, bunnies, hawks … not a bunny hawk though. I wonder if those exist?

Anyway…. along with me seeing all these fun critters, I also had a skunk decide to “skunk” my car this summer. That was fun. For days and maybe a few weeks, my car stunk like skunk. What did my car ever do to it? However, It was a good way to get other people to drive for a bit.

But nothing was more fun then my dog getting “skunked” which happened last week. At 10:30 at night.

Yes, it’s true … my border collie who was probably just either A – minding her own business exploring or B- thinking the skunk needed to be herded in a nice orderly fashion into a corner – got a nice dose of skunk spray. Since I wasn’t there for the actual event and only became involved for the “after event party”. I can only imagine that her encounter went something like this:

When she finally made her way to me, my nose went numb and my eyes started to water. But the best was that she kept trying to rub off the spray from her face on ME!

So now … picture me, just stepping out of the hot tub wrapped in a towel and flip flops, RUNNING from my own dog.

“Stay! No. Back. I said NO … seriously .. .NO” as I’m trying to get away from my dog…

Then it dawned on me … my early television viewing days came back to me in what I can only assume was a guardian angel “flash” ….. and I shouted……

“Stop. Drop. Roll Buffy Roll …. !!”

As I’m sitting here typing this post …. I still smell skunk and my dog is on her 3rd bath. Nothing is really working ….

Checkmate my skunk friend …… checkmate.

With the economy changing… everyone has to pull their weight in my family. In order to pay for those frosty paws and organic cookie treats… Buffy has to start pulling her weight around here.

So, beside her “duty” of picking up her toys daily (if you have a border collie…you know the importance of “daily duties” for them) Buffy will now share 10 seconds of her life with everyone.

Is it going to be fantastic and exciting?? … guess we’ll find out!!!!
