Red Diamond
2006
Shiraz
Washington State
Yes! It’s another Washington state wine and it’s called Red Diamond. There is not much information on Red Diamond wines from their site. This wine is a budget wine but it has some big flavors. Very warm in my opinion.
Snooth.com review indicates that this is a wine competitor to the Australian wines. I don’t know … here is where my knowledge is lacking… but can you really compare one regions wines to another? To me each region is like it’s own culture – I reminds me of apples and laptops. Yea, there is an apple laptop – but separately completely different and that’s how I feel about comparing wines regionally. But what do I know.
Anyway – what I think makes me like this wine even more is the fact that the Winemaker is a women. Very rare and shows great taste on this wineries part. I love it. Laura Sorge is the winemaker for these wines and her quote is as follows:
I want to make wines that everyone can enjoy. They aren’t meant to intimidate or mystify people. All our wines are approachable but with sophisticated and elegant flavors.
I think she nailed it!
I picked up this wine under $10 – other sites show a price anywhere from $8.99 to $10.99. Great price for a big flavored wine!
So why this wine when you can’t afford the real diamnd?? … well… if you can’t afford it … this is a great wine to have when you propose without the real one!
Cheers to women winemakers!

I find it difficult to tell what regions red wines come from with the exception of Itallian reds. Whites are another story. French reislings are completely different than German. California chards vs. Australian chards. Big differences in taste.
eems great. Wish I could try it.
Take care, Jen.
