It’s the end of summer and we’re slowly coming up on the crisp fall season. There is no better way to celebrate this then to hit a downtown restaurant patio, secure a great viewing spot to people watch and sip some wonderful sparkling wines or Champagnes.
Here is a list of my favorites to share with great company, to people watch with and take in some great food.
1. Moet & Chandon Nector Imperial: When someone told me I HAD to try this Champagne, I was not prepared for how much I was going to love it. Tingles the lips and makes you want to savor each sip. Not only did I like this wine – but when it’s on a restaurant menu … I go for it! This wine is high on the fruit taste initially, then ends with a light honey taste. That’s a happy ending I can fall in love with!
2. Piper – Heidsieck Cuvee Sublime: This wine carries a nutty taste to it, yet being a demi-sec champagne, tends to be a bit sweeter. More of a dessert wine, but not sticky sweet – just right for a bubbly sweet tooth!
3. Simonnet – Febvre Cremant Brut Blanc: This sparkling wine has that fine tiny little bubbles that will make you giggle inside. What am I saying … giggle out loud – we’re celebrating the end of summer and a happy time! Great taste and on the lower end of the budget, so this is a great wine for every day celebrations. Think Chablis with bubbles and you’ll have the taste idea for this one.
4. Taltarni Sparkling Brut Tache: Coming to us from down under Australia … well Tasmania to be exact, this wine is an interesting surprise! Dry, fruity sparkling rose. Just keeping under the radar … this sparkling wine is great to try on it’s own and it’s for those who may not like their sparkling wines too sweet.
5. Bollinger Brut Special Cuvee: One of the modestly priced (under $100) champagne’s, this is a champagne that is great for a special occasion … while on the high end of celebrating the passing of summer, it is truly special. This buttery toasty champagne is sure to delight and will leave you wanting another celebration as a reason to bring out another bottle
These are my 5 picks to try at your favorite restaurant or purchase from one of our local stores and celebrate at home on your patio.
Cheers to summer!
