Happy Belated July 4th and Random Stuff

by Jennifer Stinnett on July 5, 2010

I hope everyone had a wonderful July 4th weekend!

July 4th crept up on me …. I didn’t even see it coming. I don’t know what happened to June, but I feel like I missed the whole month! In fact, I missed lane courtesy month which is in June.

In my head I had this whole blog post set up for Lane courtesy month and I didn’t even get to do it …. I’ll have to wait until next June. If you are new to this blog, you may need to catch up on my post from last year on this subject under Craigslist rants and raves. We’ll all wait while you read and catch up …

After driving all over Wisconsin this last weekend … I’ve come to the conclusion that lane courtsey is all but forgotten. I think Hallmark needs to help out with this … I’m just sayin’.

Also, we had a few storms these past weeks and since I’ve grown up in the country I’d like to share with you what it was like back in the day when you had well water and septic hooked up to your home.

To this day, I still don’t understand the issue when the electricity goes out and why it’s so bad to flush the toilet during that time. When I did it as a kid, I swear I think my dad had a mini-coronary. I’m not sure how he’s actually still living …. but when he heard me flush the toilet I got a healthy dose of a language I only appreciate now in life. That traumatic incident follows me now to the place I’m renting currently…. which has well and septic. Whenever I hear a storm coming in I rush to the bathroom, shower, brush my teeth …. whatever I have to do with water, cuz for whatever reason if the electricity should go out here … I know … I CAN’T use the water. This is why I love living in the city everyone ….

I tell that story, because a storm is coming in and I need to finish this post quickly. If it comes down to finishing this or using the water… I think we know … water will win.

So anyway, this week my first blog post on Milwaukee Mom’s.com goes up. I’m nervous and I hope I do a good job. Actually, I just did a disclaimer-nice-to-be-here post because unless they’ve read my blog here and they just started reading my blond-ness comments… they might not respect me in the morning.

Cheers to stuff!
