Sponsored but not really

Remember a few weeks ago when I announced on twitter that “It’s official, I can be bought!”? I’d like to bring everyone up to speed since then……

Nothing has happened.

That’s right, a few emails, phone calls, etc. there are a few exciting things in the works, but ultimately, I’m still working on the “Hire Me!” project. Although, there were some guys on facebook who apparently “own me”. or my picture, I’m not sure yet – I’ve not had to really do anything with that – I guess facebook just wanted me to know. And really, when did I sign up for that application, much less think that was going to get me sponsorship?

So, I’m stuck with the fact that no one wants to sponsor me for anything at this point. I’m feeling un-sponsorable.

Until I realized that TECHNICALLY, my current employer is sponsoring me! See, our company, specifically my department is winning an award. I think we did some good stuff, people like us, we met goals… you know the usual stuff you win awards for. Except we didn’t invent anything – so it’s not that type of an award. But maybe I should mention to someone that R has invented office twitter. That might get us some stickers or something… I’ll make a mental note of that.

Since we’ve been notified that we’ve won, my boss is sending me to A. accept the award and B. learn some more stuff so we can win next year.

He’s paying for my hotel, conference registration and although he doesn’t know it yet … probably a few glasses of wine. So TECHNICALLY, I think that counts as being sponsored! (for an event, not AA)

In light of this new sponsorship, this may cause a few postings to be missed or create some very interesting posts, you never know.

Ok … I’m off to pack. Palm Springs California, Delta and JW Marriott resort … prepare!

Cheers to being sponsored, sortof!

I think the key to getting sponsored or hired to do something on you blog is all about readership. The more eye’s that see what you’re saying and doing, the more opportunity for companies to invest in you. Just my thought…. I’m trying to build my readership but only by providing good and frequently updated content..Cheers~
