You should add http://www.listburn.com

It's a newer site so not as many features/items, but it keeps a lot of the spam type ads out and is nicely laid out while searching. Filters adult content and has safe meeting locations submitted by the users. I like the Video upload capability though!

Jennifer, I see the same thing in the corporate world all the time, particularly with new companies. The company appears to open up their portfolio to someone, lends their logo, gives interviews etc, and presto, they get a puff piece in return by an outsider who seems to possess special knowledge. It is frightening how often I see this sort of thing. Yet it does and the writer can almost always honestly say they were not paid. I am no fan of craigslist, probably because they are a tad cheesy. But they can fix that a lot faster than OLX can fix its multitude of problems. By the way Jennifer-- is that red hair I am seeing. I believe it does have a touch of red. Hmmm, you know what they say about women in their 40's.

oh Bob .... thanks for the comment - your comment wasn't deleted, you've never commented on my blog before and because of that, it gets held for moderation. That being said, I'm sure you've taken a look at my blog and saw my post yesterday -- it's my birthday week and my admin duties took a back seat.

As far as the OLX logo -- I use that with permission from the OLX.com team who sent that to me. You can also read my interview with the owner of OLX.com - Fabrice here: http://jenniferstinnett.com/2010/02/17/olx-com-co-founder-fabrice-grinda/

Thanks for allowing me to give you the information!
Cheers!

Always be suspicious of these blogs. I mean, Jennifer is using OLX's logo in her blog. Right there ought to cause suspicion. I posted a comment yesterday that OLX in comparison to craigslist could not even carry craigslist's jock strap. That is an old saying probably older than Jennifer about combatants in a contest. In my opinion craigslist is light years ahead of OLX. That comment has already been deleted. Take a look at OLX's site-- they are exposing their inferiority every single day.

OLX is beyond a waste of time. As rough around the edges as Craigslist is, OLX couldn't carry their jock strap.

My daughter was nearly scammed this week by an ad on, first, Rent.com, and then this ad appeared on Oxl.. The ad presented a gorgeous 2 bed, 2 bath, totally furnished apartment on Brickell Ave., in Miami, Florida. Long story short, the first ad we responded to. Received an email from a gal who lives in the UK, or said she does. She is looking for a "good person" to sub let her apartment. She never asked for references, a background check, nothing. All she wanted to do was make a Western Union transaction to Rent.com.. Well, it turns out Rent.com does no such business. When I called Rent.com they didn't even need to hear the content of the emails she sent. They pretty much knew verbatim. This "lessor" stole the logo of Rent.com for her "invoice". She was going to send the keys to the apartment as soon as she received the money. Unbelieveable. What a scam. I wrote a comment on Oxl's website under this ad, and two days in a row now, they have eliminated my comment, and you cannot flag this ad as a scam!!

Well, to be frank, this kind of sites like:

OLX, Yakaz, Vivastreet, adoos, and so on.. are just stealers...

Why? they steal our money, they steal our time, they steal Internet meaning.

Our money, to all the AdSense advertisers like me, because they use keywords that are meaningless to real searches, so if you search "cancer doctor" pops! a page of this stealer's of clicks, instead a real info or result.

Our time, because we need to explore more and more pages now to find what we really want, more than before, thanks to this sites.

Why Google still leave them "hack" their AdSense essence? Well Google leaks of a real ethical practice, and when it comes to money... they don´t waste their time, and put in their results pages that if the text ad haven't get the click of the user, so the graphical banner will do, so at final, all our money goes to Google, and so on to this stealer's.

I talk as a heavy AdSense user, and trust me, this, this is not ethical, like many things in the world, but I never expect this from Google, i´m very disappointed of them, because the real problem is not this spammers with "classifieds" pages, the real problem is Google for leaving them in their results.

or not?

A good and useful post! It provides valuable information on this topic. Nowadays people are busy and attention span on the Internet is short. Therefore it is good that there is available free software, which makes it easy to perform for example searches on Craigslist.
