I’m All For Jewelry … But Live Jewelry?

by Jennifer Stinnett on January 26, 2010

Okay – so this was a weird story I had to share … a women coming to the USA from Mexico was not allowed to bring her jewel encrusted living brooch with her. Yes, I said that right … her LIVING brooch. Check out that picture and read the full story here: The Bling Beetle

One of my personal rules in life is: I’m not friends with anything that has no feet or more then four. I think that’s a pretty good rule AND would apply to this. Soooo …. my question is … was this a pet??? Was this some sort of “I have money and can wear living gem-encrusted beetles”? I don’t know … but it bugged me…. (Pun intended) and so I had to know more.

And of course …. jewelry made from real Octopus parts … or would that be Octo-pii parts??? (necklace and photo from OctupusMe on Etsy)
OctopusME - Etsy.comIt’s important to note that this person makes her jewelry from sushi grade Octopus and then dips it in Sterling Silver. I like unique things – not sure how I would feel getting this for valentines day … but … you know … it’s different!

Or maybe you’d like a necklace made of green beetle wings from designer Pebble London.

Well … whatever your fancy is … I have a feeling this is going to be a start of a fashion trend.

Can’t afford that diamond necklace?? Let’s give precious butterfly wing jewelry or better yet … how about a seahorse in a vial. Yep … that’s out there too … as well as a mantas.

Cheers to innovative jewelry!
