Budget wine from France…. seriously? Doesn’t that get the winemaker run out of France? Is it possible that we here in American can actually partake of a French wine on a low budget?!

Say it with me wino brothers and sisters ….

….YES IT DOES!

A blend of Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvedre

Anything that proclaims being a black sheep of anything makes me want to learn more about it…. if that black sheep happens to be in wine form … even better! And for you smarty-pants people out there who are thinking … but the Euro is higher then the dollar, so really how cheap can it really be. On sale it was $7.49 for me! I think it was a $1 off … so … $8.50? not a bad french budget wine price at all!

Here is the other interesting fact …. this wine comes to us from the same group that brings us “Broke Ass Wine“! These people rock! Budget wines from around the world? I love it.

I have to say this wine was a little tart for my taste and that may be because I’m not used to a blend … and I don’t know much about Mourvedre. The site claims that it has intense aromas of aromas of licorice, cocoa, and spice. Definately the licorice taste is not for me …. probably why this is not one of my favorites. However, it’s great to be able to bring a french wine home or even to a party. Toss in a wine under $10 and you have a great time!

Cheers to black sheep!
